Mutu scored in Fiorentina – PSV 1-1
Fiorentina and PSV played out to a 1-1 draw in Italy on Thursday. Both goals came in the second half with Adrian Mutu opening the scoring for the home side. Giampaolo Pazzini flicked a long ball into the area and keeper Heurelho Gomes reached out to punch the ball away. Instead it hit off Mutu and back into his own net. PSV’s tying goal came only 6 minutes later through Danny Koevermans. Ibrahim Afellay passed him the ball from the left and the Dutch striker netted into the top corner. The outcome of the series is now up in the air after this indecisive finish, but the Dutch side does have a slight advantage thanks to their away goal.
Adrian Mutu is prepared to carry the responsiblity to ensure Fiorentina achieve their season’s ambitions.
The 29-year-old said: “There’s is a lot of weight and worry on my shoulders, as well as the desire to drag everybody beyond their limits.”
In his second season at the club, Mutu has become the talisman for the Viola, whose absence was evident in the defeat to Udinese on Game Day 31 on Sunday.
